Sherief Elkatsha

Sherief Elkatsha is a film director that has just wrapped up the documentary film Cairo Drive about the special people of Egypt during a significant moment in history.

Elkatsha was born in the U.S. but raised in Cairo. He has been working in film and television for 17 years and Cairo Drive is his third feature film.

After raising the funds he needed on indiegogo, Elkatsha filmed Cairo Drive over a period of three years with one goal in mind: capturing the true nature of the city he loves. The film depicts the people before, during, and after the famous revolution that took place in Tahrir Square.

The film focuses on individuals as they navigate their lives throughout the chaotic roads of Cairo. However, the film itself really illustrates the greater issues that these drivers face in their lives, aside from the craziness of Cairo driving.

This film introduces us to one of the most populated cities in the world through its streets and depicts the struggles of the Egyption people, including taxi drivers, ambulance drivers, traffic officers, and ordinary citizens.

Elkatsha is currently shopping his film to various film festivals and we wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing his film.
