Mona Tavassoli – a ‘mompreneur’ nicknamed Um Ryan (Mother of Ryan) in the Arab world – shares valuable insights about her online platform.

What moved you to start this initiative?

My son, Ryan, was the inspiration behind momsouq.com. When he reached 4 months, I noticed that we had so many clothes and toys for him that he had outgrown, and a lot of them were not even used. Our vision initially was to build a platform for parents to buy and sell their baby and child items and we slowly moved into other directions such as introducing an expert corner, promoting mompreneurs, mommy bloggers, and inspirational moms, in addition to building a community of moms.

As a mompreneur, what advice would you give other working mothers in the region?

I believe that a happy mother makes a happy family. It’s very important to spend time on activities that keep us healthy and happy. It is very easy to get drawn into the responsibilities of work and home. Use your support group and ask for help.
