Ever imagine what some of your favorite Hollywood films would look set in the Ottoman style of the 16th century? If the thought of Darth Vader as an Ottoman Sultan dressed in a royal caftan and turban intrigues you, then you’re in luck. One young artist has come up with an ingenious and humorous Eastern take on many all-time favorite Western films.

In his series ‘Classic Movies in Miniature Style’, Turkish artist Murat Palta depicts famous Hollywood movie scenes from such cult hits as Pulp Fiction, Star Wars and the Godfather, using traditional Ottoman motifs to create a new style of Oriental miniature painting.

The project began as part of a portfolio for his graduation thesis at Kütahya Dumlupınar University in Turkey. Now this fantastic blend of East and West with both modern and traditional elements has made a big splash on the internet, garnering widespread attention for this movie buff-cum-art student, and top marks from his teachers.
