Who Else Feels Lonely When Doing the Right Thing?

“Only the lonely try to cross the street on an actual crosswalk. Only the lonely stop at a red light. Only the lonely don’t throw litter out their car windows. What are your lonely Lebanon moments?” asks this ingenious project.

From the social media hashtags to the streets of Beirut, #OnlyTheLonely is a social experiment initiated by Volvo Lebanon in collaboration with I Love Beirut to test how lonely people feel when obeying traffic rules.

The campaign has not only taken off on social media but has also placed blue stands for pedestrians to cross the roads and yellow stands for taxis across Beirut, inviting Lebanese people to make loneliness a statement and, by doing so, reverting it.

“Thank you for the music @projectonlythelonely. Perfect backdrop to contemplate tens of passers by wonder if I was waiting myself, waiting for a ride or simply enjoying the shade”, ironizes an Instagram user as she waits for cars to stop at the pedestrian stand.

The campaign’s final call invites pedestrians and drivers to make a visual petition that will be taken to the government to make the streets more functional.
