Karmasnap: Taking “Good Samaritan” to a Whole New Level

Karmasnap, an double-ended impact focused campaign management platform seeks to help non-profits streamline the process for organizing and managing their volunteers and donors, is the first of it’s kind in the Middle East or anywhere in the world. The team behind Karmasnap began working on it at Turn8 accelerator as a “platform for random acts of kindness”, and then later added in campaign management tools after receiving inputs from non-profits who had a keen lack of tools for sustainable management.

The co-founder of Karmasnap, Mahboob Imtiyaz said, “We also included companies and their CSR departments to complete the triangle since without them a big chuck of the whole society was missing. This completed our platform as an end-to-end solution for non-profits and CSR departments to easily manage campaigns with a mobile user-end to reward those who excel.”

Karmasnap aims to increase the impact of social good, especially here in the MENA region. This includes non-profits, companies and individuals. By identifying various obstacles these groups have that slow down their progress, Karmasnap steps in to create tools that help make the process efficient by bringing together everyone involved. The mobile app is the key element here that helps engage and call for volunteers/donators, or increase media engagement and company transparency.

“Imagine an NPO in Dubai calling for volunteers to clean the beach or taking part in a fundraiser. Our app helps define a campaign, identify the location and the number of volunteers required. Karmasnap sends notifications to everyone who has previously been involved in such drives, users nearby and those who follow the organization. The intelligent volunteer match helps identify users based on different variables, and helps increase volunteer participation. It also has an element of gamification involved that further attracts individuals to volunteer and share social good by adding an element of reciprocity. It’s an ideal platform of viral campaigns such as #nomakeupselfie, #icebucketchallenge or even giving Tuesday,” says Mahboob. Now that’s an app we can get behind!

Currently available for download on Android, Karmasnap takes the idea of being a good samaritan to a new, contemporary level.
