Unbelievable Tour Kicks Off From Cairo to Cape Town, On a Bike

32 cyclists took off from the Giza Pyramids last Friday 9 on a tour that will lead them across 10 countries in 121 days to reach Cape Town, South Africa, on May 9 2015.

Running its 13^th edition, the Cairo to Cape Town cycling tour is organized by Tour d’Afrique (TDA), and will see 15 other cyclists join at several points along the road. Throughout the journey, the amateur cyclists will be accompanied by 10 TDA support members, who will be giving them training suggestions throughout the tour.

The tour will be cyclists the chance to enjoy astounding destinations, such as wild safaris in Arusha the Victoria Falls, and the Soussevlei sand dunes in Namibia. “Africa is a very safe continent,” TDA sales and marketing manager Shanny Hill told Egyptian Streets. “There are areas of Northern Kenya which we have to transit through due to armed robbery concerns. There are wildlife, like elephants in Botswana and Zambia that we have to take precautions for,” she said.

The Foundation also raises money to donate one bicycle on behalf of each participant of the Tour d’Afrique in communities in Nairobi, Arusha, and Cape Town.
