In a sea of online content where Arabic plays a minor role, startup ibTECHar aims to up the game through an iPad game app that will help children learn the language. Entitled “Kalimaty”, which means “my words” in Arabic, the educational app is set to launch in 2015 to teach pre-scholers the letters and first words through games such as jigsaw puzzles.

The startup, which aims to take on a leading role in the educational field, focuses on furthering educational methods by developing and providing innovative educational technologies. “We started focusing on introducing ‘Making & Discovery’ technologies such as 3D printers and electronic circuits to Qatar schools in the past year,” ibTECHar’s chairman and founder Khalid Aboujassoum told Entrepreneur Middle East.

In a country where the entrepreneurial ecosystem is still at an infancy stage, Aboujassoum trusts that determination and added value can go a long way. “As entrepreneurs we need to constantly show that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so that what sounds unreasonable becomes reasonable. But I believe that we have come a long way since 2011, and things are happening in Qatar”.
