Handmade Glass in Tunisia to Revive Ancestral Industry

Today’s industrial overproduction has overthrown traditional crafts. Despite this, the more industrial our world becomes, the more making things purely by hands seems appealing. With this kind of nostalgia and appreciation, a Tunisian guy named Akram, took it upon himself to breathe life back into the ancestral industry of handmade glass.

Akram started AKAM Carthage Glass five years ago to blow crystal into beautiful pieces of art by using purely traditional ways. The results have been astonishing, and the western markets have been raving for more. From vases to luminares, AKAM pieces captivate buyers all over the world with their unique “personalities”. Every piece is made with patience and a distinctive sense of art to get the required shape. As AKAM Carthage Glass puts it

“Born by a ball of fire and the breath of man, the glass vibrates all the talent inherited from history”

Akram explained to the ArabyTVNetwork that the business so far has been a success, considering that its consumers value the quality of its products. But the main challenge remains finding professionals to work in the field. However this didn’t stop him, instead he worked harder to qualify even more people and spread the craft among the youth seeking to become artisans.

With a love for the craft, Akram works with a team to produce pieces of exquisite beauty- reminding everyone that beauty can appear from working with your own hands.

You can visit AKAM Carthage Glass website or Facebook page for more information and to check out more amazing pieces.

Don’t forget to share the Baraka and leave a smile 🙂 !
