Farm Supports Sustainable Living for All

All-organic Marda Farm is home to both flourishing organic produce and creative, life-enhancing cultural exchange. At Marda, local women learn how to make solar ovens and compost systems, local farmers how to conserve water and soil, and hundreds of visitors from around the world how to farm in solidarity with Palestinians.

Located in the West Bank, the farm draws on indigenous traditions and permaculture innovations alike, with plant guilds, swales, and extensive compost and graywater systems.

Since 2008, Marda’s founder Murad Al-Khuffash has offered permaculture design classes at the farm to local and international students. He also mentors local growers, helping them to set up their own graywater systems and care for beehives. He hopes to stop the flow of villagers into cities by creating sustainable ways for them to thrive on their own lands.

Despite water confiscation, crop destruction and soil degradation, Marda continues to foster mutual support systems for plants and humans.
