From Waste to Fashion with Taste

Who would have thought of using discarded materials to make beautiful jewelry? Tatiana Fayad and Joanne Hayek tapped into the true potential of what is usually seen as clutter to be disposed of, and at the age of 19, created their jewelry brand Vanina. The name is from a french song that “suited the atmosphere of the brand, that is very feminine and playful,” says Fayad.

Founded in 2007, they started with the ‘Coined’ collection, marrying up-cycled old Lebanese coins with vintage chains, buttons, and Swarovski stones. They launch a new collection each year, each with “its own conceptual approach and message,” and each using a discarded material, such as metal from CD discs and key parts.

To compliment their jewelry line, they created a caprices range to include shoes, bags, some apparels, and other accessories. You can find Vanina products in many trendy cities including Paris, Tokyo, Florence, Dubai and Hong Kong, to name a few, but still proudly manufacture their products in local workshops in Beirut.
