An Animation Director Making History

Mohammed Hareb set the stage for other Arab animators to dream big – and better yet, achieve their dreams when he found himself as one of the directors of the animated feature film ‘The Prophet’ – Gibran Khalil Gibran’s most famous work – working alongside Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ director Roger Allers and Salma Hayek.

Hareb chose one of the most fascinating chapters of the book for his portion of the film – Crime and Punishment – leaving the Arab world eager for the it’s completion in the spring of 2014.

His successes are plenty, from directing Freej Folklore – the largest Arab theatrical production in the region – to creating the hit 3D animated series Freej – an account of the UAE culture and traditions through the eyes of four old grandmothers in a secluded neighborhood in modern day Dubai.

Much like his characters from Freej, Hareb is seen as a national hero, putting the UAE on the map for breakthroughs in film, animation, and theatre.
