Fighting Discrimination Against Migrants

The Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) in Lebanon is exactly how it sounds: it seeks to combat racism and other forms of discrimination against migrants, and migrant workers in particular.

An association of young activists, ARM aims to improve the lives of migrant workers, eradicate “racist mentality” against migrants and push for labor laws that protect those coming from abroad to work in Lebanon. Among ARM’s initiatives are: a migrant community center where people can meet to socialize and organize events; monitoring and documenting cases of racism; and handling cases of domestic workers who are physically abused or exploited by not getting paid for their work.

ARM hosts educational and awareness campaigns, but it also organizes celebratory events for migrants as well. The organization encourages people to report cases and share their stories to better address the issue.
