Painting The Face Of The City

Graffiti is hardly ever seen in Dubai, so when a 140 meter long mural appeared on the Jumeirah Beach Road, curiosity was certainly sparked, and many heads turned in appreciation of the colorful artwork. This urban art wall project called ‘Al-Ydar’ was recently announced by her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment. She notes that over the coming year, this project “will display new collaborative works of urban and conceptual art,” bringing together nine talented UAE based artists. She also adds that “the first edition of Al-Ydar will serve as a fitting tribute to UAE’s bid to host the Expo 2020 in Dubai.” Commissioned by FN Designs on behalf of The Cultural Office, this project is one among many that will continue positioning the UAE as a hub for inspiration and creativity.
