Fashion Campaign Helps Orphans

Whether it’s pinned to your hair or tied around your neck, purchasing a bow from Reem Buqais’ “The Bow project“ collection guarantees a smile in one of Bahrain’s orphanages. The ambitious and philanthropic fashion designer explains her project.

What’s the Bow Project?

It’s a line of carefully handcrafted bows designed to compliment a variety of different outfits to fit any style. I sew them myself and they can easily be pinned on clothing and accessories.

It was a limited time project where I teamed up with the top bloggers in Bahrain to launch an interactive social media campaign showing that a bow is for everyone and can be worn almost anywhere. I sold the bows online through social media as well as at the first week of Market 338, and donated a percentage of sales to Al-Sanabel Orphans Care Society, which takes care of the holistic needs of orphans.

Why did you choose Al-Sanabil?

It is the only charitable society that cares for orphans, so my contribution will make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate children and their families.

Advice for aspiring fashion designers here?

Learn the technical side of fashion design because it’s just as important as designing. That is when you will truly appreciate fashion design.
