Snapping the Future Into Focus

“A true artist is like a light of hope which illuminates humanity’s path towards a brighter future”, affirms H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. To recognize the vital role of photography in capturing a moment for a generation, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photoraphy Award (HIPA) will honor the top creators of photographic excellence from around the globe.

In this third annual edition of the award, national and international photographers are invited to submit their photos from around the world no later than December 31 in any of four categories: street life, the magic of black and white, the general, and creating the future.

This last category is this year’s theme, designed to inspire photographers to “think outside the box” in portraying how humans are endlessly reinventing themselves and their environments. Besides the three prizes in each category, a grand prize winner will receive $120,000, for a total disbursement of $349,000.
