War and a harsh winter are making this season the toughest many Syrians have faced. For those displaced around Lattakia, the aid campaign “Please Keep Me Warm” is gathering young volunteers to help them get through it together with health, warmth, and dignity.

The program combines the energies of youth with the Al-Bashaer organization under the motto “United, We Feel Warm…Scattered, We Feel Cold”, and provides needy Syrians with blankets, winter clothing and hygiene kits. A team of over 15 volunteers is also equipped to vaccinate over 8,000 children against polio, in cooperation with the patriarchate, UNICEF and the Red Crescent to reach more children in rural Lattakia. Meanwhile, a song with the same title as the campaign has been released on YouTube to encourage everyone to get involved in their own ways.

The campaign is also mindful of the intangible needs of the people it is assisting. You can heal the broken hearts of these needy people by showing respect for their sufferings and a smile of hope for their aspirations,” says Mohammed Qassab, the program’s director. “They need this more than the aid itself“.
