5 Types of Friends You Want to Tag on Friendship Day

On International Friendship Day, we want to honor our friends, not for being our unconditional partners, but for being who they really are. Don’t we all have one of these five types of friends?

1. The one who pushes you off the couch

He is the group planner, hyper-active-always-excited kind of friend who will never say no to an outing –that is, if he hasn’t texted you to with a plan first. He is great because he takes you off your week-night laziness and makes your life a lot more interesting. He will take the lead role in holiday planning, surprise birthday parties, and the most random events you never expected to find yourself in.

2. The only one that laughs at your silly jokes

She is kind of an accomplice. You don’t know if she does it simply out of pity, but she is the only one that gets your jokes. You think, perhaps, she is the sole person who shares your quirky sense of humor, but you know she is most likely doing it because she feels compelled by her extreme sense of awesomeness. After all, what’s friendship without a partner in crime?

3. The one who challenges you

You probably don’t agree on anything, but somehow every talk is worth more than a thousand and one philosophy lectures. He just pushes you to another level. Since you are both each other’s opposite, he is the one who will give you constructive criticism when he sees you’re missing the path. He may not be the shoulder you cry on, but his words are as necessary — if not more — than anyone else’s in this list.

4.  The one who’s always raising money for charity

Passionate, driven, and always willing to help. She works at an NGO, volunteers her free time at the community center and spends her Facebook time constantly spamming you with yet another fundraising campaign. She feels like a radar, although sometimes you just wish she took a break. Whether it is for human rights or street children, she always finds a cause to support –and draw you in. But how would we hope for a better world without her?

5. The friend who can finish your sentences

She knows what you are thinking before you even say it. She can finish your sentence even if you didn’t know what you were about to say. She just completes you, not in a cheesy kind of way but simply because she knows you down to the last bit. She is happy when you do well, and even anticipates it when something wrong is about to happen. That’s why, when your behavior is questionable, you know she is the one to turn to.
