Breathing Numbers: Breathing Life into Volunteerism

Emirati activist Muna Harib started an initiative entitled Breathing Numbers. This weekend, Muna is visiting the Za’atari Refugee camp located in Jordan near Mafraq City and she’s bringing one exceptional volunteer along with her. Muna’s aim is to select one significant volunteer, who reaches out to her via her Breathing Numbers Facebook Page, and shares with her what they hope to accomplish by visiting the camp.

The idea behind Breathing Numbers was born in May 2013, in which Muna hoped to document the stories of refugees and turn them into personalized documentaries to be shared with the world. She then developed the idea further so that it could include others, and it soon became a humanitarian project to reach out and touch the lives of refugees on a personal level, supplying both material and moral assistance. Muna hopes that through this initiative, she can encourage people to become more active in their own societies, and to promote volunteerism on a grander scale throughout the region.

This is not the first time Muna has visited the camps in order to bring assistance and volunteer, and she has been chronicling her experiences on her Poca World Blog.

And that’s #peoplehelpingpeople.
