The Egyptian troupe Outa Hamra (meaning red tomato in Arabic), has spent the last four years touring Egypt with street-clowning performances, theatrical sketches on refugee issues, and working on drama therapy with local NGOs. Their aim is to bring some light heartedness to a community of people struggling with issues of housing, displacement and lack of proper amenities.
Outa Hamra is by no means a traditional theater troupe. Aly Sobhy, Diana Calvo, Hany Taher and Jakob Lindfors spend their time creating, rehearsing and performing several types of shows that all have a clear mission: using social theater to promote positive change.
