Arab Filmmakers: The Screen Institute Beirut May Help Fund Your Film

The Screen Institute Beirut Film Fund is calling for applications for documentary production and development grants to visionary filmmakers who want to tell stories from an Arab perspective. The documentary grants help low-budget films be produced, finalized and distributed not only through financial support, but also access to professional equipment, mentoring and professional advice.

In its four years of existence, the institute has supported 42 projects from the Arab world through cash development, grants and in-kind production, 26 of which have toured festivals around the world.

For this edition, priority will be given to creative teams working together on realizing their artistic visions and strengthening independent filmmaking in the region. The deadline to apply is October 15.

Previous projects include “Birds of September“, recently awarded for best film in the international competition at DMZ Docs (Korea); “My love awaits me by the sea“, winner of the Grand Prix Femina at the Femina Festival in Brazil, as well as “A world not ours” awarded as Best Documentary at the Guanajuato Festival in Mexico. Regional filmmakers devoted to Human Rights can also apply to the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, organized by People in Need, to present their work in Prague, Czech Republic on March 2 – 11, 2015.
