Amman is quickly becoming one of the Middle East’s most blossoming center’s of art and culture. One of the individuals who sparked the conversation and brought a unique vision to the city’s asthetics is Jordanian Ammar Khammash, a renowned architect and artist, whose work has forever made its mark on Amman’s landscape.
Ammar Khammash has worked on projects ranging from Jordan’s own eco-lodge located in Dana to Wild Jordan, a restaurant and market space carved right into the hills of Jabal Amman, to one of the oldest centers of art and culture in the region, Darat al Funun. Though his work is rather varied, there exists one uniting theme: Contemporary buildings that work to preserve the local environment and the historical value. Ammar’s goal is to preserve as much of the local topography without upsetting the natural atmosphere of the location, and he has succeeded. Many of Jordan’s most astounding architectural locations are the work of Ammar.
This week, the multi-talented architect shared his Skyscapes, Landscapes and Cityscapes collection of paintings at Nabad Gallery, located in Jabal Amman off of Rainbow Street, and the event was attended by a group of locals, expats, artists and admirers. The work is a vivid amalgamation of architectural structure and abstract earthy themes bringing to life a vast display of colors found in the Jordanian landscape.
