Mashrou’ Leila Plays in Dubai to Celebrate AFAC’s End of the Year

Arab indie rock band Mashrou’ Leila will play in Dubai on November 30 as part of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture’s (AFAC) end of year event 2014. Famous for their thought-provoking songs and the melancholic stories in their lyrics, the ground-breaking Lebanese band has sky-rocketed and reached international audiences, having recently toured cities like Milan, Rabat, and London.

Their most recent album, Raasük (2013), had been awarded with a music grant by AFAC, a leading organization that funds projects or individuals in the fields of cinema, performing arts, literature, music and visual arts while facilitating cultural exchange across the Middle East and the world.

The event, which will take place in Dubai’s Music Hall, will kick off on November 29 with the unveiling of AFAC’s public art commissions by five visual artists working under the theme “InVisible”, as well as a series of public talks with the artists to discuss the role of public art.
