Through Young Eyes: A New Outlet for Creativity in Amman

Khaled Homsii is relatively new to Amman. A Syrian artist who grew up in Saudi Arabia and lived the majority of his life in Dubai, he moved to Jordan after visiting Syria for the first time in 2005. When he first arrived, he noticed a lack of creative outlets for young people to create and exhibit their work, so he decided to build one. He chose Jabal el Weibdeh, one of Amman’s oldest and most close-knit neighborhoods, to build a center with a gallery area, workshop, study area and small cafe, called Young Eyes.
Young Eyes aims to promote local artists and musicians by giving them a space to work and exhibit their collections. Khaled recognized that some of the bigger galleries in Amman may be too busy with more established artists, and wanted to promote young artists by giving them a space to create, network and exhibit their talents. The center just celebrated its first year anniversary, and wants to welcome everyone to come check it out and meet Khaled and the community of artists and creatives who regularly frequent the spot.
