Two Palestinian Children Are Crowned Math Geniuses

The INTELLIGENT Mental-Arithmetic Competition took place in Singapore this December, and out of 3,000 participants from more than 15 countries, Dania Husni al-Jaabari and Ahmad Ayman Nashwieh from Palestine won first and second place respectively. Dania, who is 14 years old, and Ahmad, who is 8 years old, first joined a mental-arithmetic program two years ago. Students had to practice using a Both-Hand Abacus Mental-Arithmetic teaching method, which trains both the right and left sides of the brain. The children use the fingers of their left and right hands to solve problems at the same time, which enables them to solve mathematical equations quickly and accurately. The two math prodigies had to solve 240 math problems in six minutes at the competition. Two years ago, Areej El Madhoon, a 14-year-old Palestinian girl from Gaza won first place at the same competition. She solved 182 problems in eight minutes. AMAZING!
