TedX Zamalek Launches In Cairo

Focused on community development and culture revival, TedX Zamalek in launching next Saturday 28 in the distinctive Cairene neighborhood of Zamalek, with the aim to spread new ideas and turn them into concrete action.

“We are a very committed team who wants to have a neighborhood feel while focusing on real action. Our idea is to have a small event so that speakers can interact with the audience and perhaps include a call to action so that ideas are implemented by the end of the event,” says Salem Massalha, one of TedX Zamalek’s founders.

The event will be held on Saturday at 2pm at the Cairo Greater Library. Set at the tip of Gezira island at the heart of the Nile, the library symbolizes an iconic location to spark a culture revival, Massalha says.

Among the seven speakers participating in the launch, Egyptian filmmaker Marianne Khoury will disrupt perceptions of being mad, while Bassita’s co-founder Alban de Ménonville will discuss the use of social media for social good. Hussein Salama, a specialist in R&D promises to reinvent the concept of failure, while singer Aya Metwally will to perform between the talks.
