Tango Never Sounded So Powerful As In This Sweeping Arab Voice

Hiba Tawaji’s idyllic voice, a genius composer, and a heart-pounding piano blend into this enchanting composition called “Tango el horriyyi” or, as in the original Argentine version by Astor Piazzolla, “Libertango”.

Adapted, orchestrated and conducted by Oussama Rahbani, the tango is a part of Tawaji’s second album “La Bidayi Wala Nihayi,” released in 2011. The lyrics, written by Ghadi Rahbani, tell the story of Argentina’s years of dictatorship and corruption.

Today a top contestant in France’s The Voice, Hiba interprets different music styles such as Oriental music, pop music, jazz, funk, and opera, as well as being a soprano. Her artistic career started in 2007 alongside Rahbani, a widely acclaimed Lebanese producer, son of the legend Mansour Rahbani. Hiba’s recent short movie, entitled “The rope” was officially selected at several film festivals across the world, such as ZUMEFF (Abu Dhabi), Outbox (Lebanon), NDU (Lebanon).
