Egyptian Cooks Break Records Again: Here’s The World’s Biggest Foul Plate

Celebrating mother’s day, and breaking a World Guinness Records once again, Egypt was crowned with the world’s biggest foul plate last Saturday, after a team of 18 Cairo-based chefs prepared a four-ton fava bean platter in Cairo’s Horreya Garden.

The gigantic plate of Foul, an Egyptian meal that consists of smashed fava beans, weighed 4.155 Kg and was officially registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s “largest vegetable stew,” according to Mada Masr. 

The dish consisted of tomatoes, onions, hot peppers, parsley and sesame seed paste and was, distributed to an estimated 7,500 needy families in Cairo and other governorates across Egypt after the event.

Last January, an Egyptian team spear-headed by entrepreneur Amr Ashraf broke Guinness Records for the world’s largest koshary plate, another Egyptian specialty based on pasta, lentils, chickpeas, rice, fried onions, and salsa.
