Sitti Soap: An Enterprise to Cleanse Away Dependency

Founded by two remarkable women, Sitti Soap is a skin care company and a social enterprise based out of Jerash, Jordan. Founded by Noora Sharrab (co-founder of Hopes for Women in Education and regional director) and Jacqueline Sofia (a former Fulbright fellow and founder of DreamRise.co), Sitti Soap hopes to fill some of the gaps found in the economic standing of women in these areas of the country. Being a woman-focused social enterprise, the aim of Sitti Soap is to bring sustainability, integrity and independence back to the communities but especially to the women of Jerash’s ‘Gaza’ camp. The soap combines natural ingredients like Jordanian virgin olive oil and other oil infusions. It is made using traditional Palestinian (Nabulsi) methods, staying true to their traditional roots.

Operating under the auspices of Hopes for Women in Education, they have now launched a crowdfunding campaign on AFKARMENA, a platform that helps promote innovative ideas from the Middle East and North Africa, that will aid completion of the production facility as well as additional start up costs of the social enterprise. The enterprise model includes several beneficiary programs that would be supported in parts by the profits made by the Sitti Soap Company.
