Known by C215, French street artist Christian Guémy has said he is inspired by street portraits of people that are not commonly seen as models for art. The artist has been compared to world renowned British street artist Banksy, and has created work all around the world in alleyways and on billboards alike.
In 2014, the artist worked in Valletta, Malta and created portrait-inspired stencils on post boxes throughout the city. The stencils were removed shortly after by the MaltaPost, but the artist was not deterred. Recently he recreated the same idea in Rabat, Morocco. This work, like those he created in Malta, features homeless people, refugees, beggars, the elderly and those that are sometimes forgotten by society. The series in Rabat utilized the bright hue of yellow that is synonymous with the Moroccan postal service.
