In this article we look at four places to see and things to do while visiting this magical destination:

Learn to Cook Traditional Moroccan Food

Influenced by native Berber cuisine, Arabic Andalusian cuisine, Turkish cuisine and the Middle Eastern cuisine brought in by the Arabs, learning how to cook Traditional Moroccan cuisine is an experience you don’t want to miss out on during your visit. There are several Riads that offer cooking classes or half-day cooking workshops that will give you the chance to visit markets to buy the fresh ingredients you need in order to make your traditional tagine and couscous meal. This is a one-of-a-kind way to immerse yourself in Morocco’s culture, while picking up cooking skills you will be able to use again and again.

Spend a Night or Two in the Desert

Your trip to Morocco wouldn’t be complete without spending some time in the Sahara Desert. The most popular area, due to its stunning sandscape, is Merzouga. Here you can opt to stay in a Bedouin tent or a luxury tent and spend a few nights under the stars, explore the landscape by camel or 4×4 and take some time to see the flamingos in a large seasonal lake close to Merzouga (if you plan your trip during spring that is).

Find Inner Peace at the Majorelle Gardens

This enchanting 12-acre botanical garden in Marrakech is one of the most visited sites in Morocco, and is filled with bright colours, rare and exotic plants, and peace and quiet. Designed by Jacques Majorelle, a French painter who settled in Marrakech in the early 1900s, his workshop has been transformed into a museum dedicated to Islamic Art. The gardens were restored by Pierre Berge and Yves Saint Laurent, and is a place visitors can take in its beauty and find their inner peace.

Trek the High Atlas

If you’re the outdorsey type, trekking The High Atlas, Africa’s highest peak, shouldn’t be missed.
