What should the content be like?
Barakabits content is hopeful, empowered, intrigued and inspiring.
We aim to provide engaging, impactful, youthful content that is uplifting and will change the narrative of negativity often found in news.
Here are the types of bits we feature:
We love sharing videos of all varieties, as long as they share a good message. Anything from a musical troupe in Syria to a skateboarding group in Palestine, if you have a great video you’d like to share, write a small intro about it and be sure to include those involved in its creation.
Our bits are always informative, inspiring and straight to the point. Typically less than 250 words, our articles provide content that is original and will inspire others to a call of action. Please check out the categories we cover in our articles.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words — and it’s true! Our slideshows tell stories of positive characters and the diversity of life throughout the MENA region. If you are a photographer and have a photo-story, we would love to see your work. Our slideshows are typically 7 – 15 photos, and always with a short story included and credit to photographer and those involved.
In order to use a photo on the site, you must get permission from the party being featured. Our photo sizes are 900 x 600 for featured images, and 900 x 900 for square images.
Headlines should be short, informative and catchy. This is imperative for creating an interesting post that will be shareable and fun!
What are smiles? Every bit has a smile at the top, and this is how we keep track of how many people are looking at and liking your bit. Bits that have lots of smiles have been shared, and might have even gone viral! Share your bits on social media pages to get more smiles.
