Is Dubai Capable to accommodate the targeted expat crowd for Expo 2020?

Dubai World Expo 2020 will mark the first large-scale international event to take place in the Middle East. And as Expo 2020 nears, Dubai’s real estate developers are working in full swing to develop top-notch and fully equipped real estate projects that all scheduled for completion before 2020. By the year 2020 – the year when the city will host the World Expo 2020 – the Emirate of Dubai is expected to attract more than 25 million visitors, 70 percent of which will be from outside the UAE.

 

By the time the Expo arrives in Dubai, there will be more than enough real estate products to accommodate not only the Expo’s visitors but also the employees working at the Expo site since the site is expected to accommodate 300,000 people per day, including staff. In other words; by 2020 Dubai properties will be ready to accommodate the anticipated rush of tourists coming from all over the world. From residential developments that offers an exceptional way of living with their stylish apartments, villas, townhouses, and penthouses to five stars hotels that pledge to provide visitors with a deluxe stay during their visit; here are the top 5 real estate projects that are taking shape and currently underway.

 

1- Al Habtoor City

Featuring three luxurious hotels St. Regis, W Hotel, and The Westin Dubai, with over than 1600 opulent rooms; Al Habtoor City which is located on the Dubai Water Canal also includes three elegant residential towers in addition to various retail and leisure facilities that includes boutiques, international restaurants and cafes in addition to a boulevard, a marina promenade, a tennis academy and luscious landscaped gardens.

 

That’s not all as the development will also feature three residential towers Noura, Amna and Meera, where two towers will comprise of 74-storeys while the third tower will comprise of 52-storeys, not to mention 12 penthouses, three of which are VIP penthouses. All three towers will feature stylish apartments with various sizes to suit all requirements. The development is due for completion in 2018 where it will offer residents multiple garden terraces, open-air Jacuzzi, a gym, a sauna and steam rooms.

 

2- Dubai South

Considered to be Emaar’s mega-development, Dubai South lies minutes away from the Al Maktoum International Airport and extremely close to the Expo 2020 Dubai site. Dubai South project features residential, commercial, logistics, aviation, humanitarian and even a golf district. Comprised of more than 15,000 residences, that combines between tiered town homes, townhouses, villas, and apartments; Dubai South will also include 18-hole championship golf course, a clubhouse, numerous community parks, retails outlets in addition to 3 & 4-star hotels that offer the expo visitors a luxury stay at their fancy rooms.

 

3- Jewel of the Creek

Set to be completed in 2019, the waterfront Jewel of the Creek will feature 19-storey apartment buildings, three office towers, two luxury hotels, a recreation center and a convention center. The project will consist of two phases, phase one will include 438-room flagship Roda five-star hotel, four towers of serviced apartments, a 60-berth marina and 20 retail and food and beverage outlets; whereas phase 2 will include Dubai Dome, a 3,000-capacity multipurpose hall in addition to three hotels – a 389-room dry hotel, a 445-room four-star hotel and a 405-room three-star hotel.

 

It is worth mentioning that phase 1 is set to be completed in 2017 while phase 2 is set to be completed in 2019. Jewel of the Creek is situated between Dubai Creek’s floating bridge and Al Maktoum Bridge on the Deira side.

 

4- Al Mamzar Beachfront

Built in cooperation with Emaar and Dubai Municipality, Al Mamzar Beachfront is a mixed-used development that will comprise of 4,000 residential units, 300 hotel rooms, and 250,000 square meters of retail outlets. The 2.72 billion dollars project is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2018.

The development will also feature Water Park Fountains, Waterfront residences, Recreational facilities as well as Shopping centers. Al Mamzar Beachfront project is considered the newest addition to Emaar’s beachfront projects besides Dubai Marina and Dubai Creek.

 

5- Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City

Referred to as MBR – District one, the project comprises of two phases and stretches over 1,110 acres. Scheduled for completion by 2019, MBR – District one will feature the world’s biggest artificial beach as well as a 14 kilometers long boardwalk which will become one among the top tourist attractions in Dubai. The project lies extremely close to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall and it includes stylish and elegant villas as well as townhouses.

 

It is worth mentioning that 483 villas/townhouses are expected to be completed by the end of this year while 807 villas/town are scheduled for completion in 2018. By the end of 2019, 1,411 apartments and 2,146 villas/townhouses are expected to be completed as well.
