Have you downloaded the Smart Document Scanner on your Android phone yet? Well, you should, since this new app by Softxpert, an app developer based in Alexandria, Egypt, is winning awards left, right and center.

Smart Document Scanner is an app that allows you to scan documents using your smartphone and store them as PDFs. Using text recognition, the app allows users to copy and insert text, add notes and adjust brightness and contrast. You can even save your PDFs on your cloud storage accounts automatically. Sounds simple, right? Well, what makes Smart Document Scanner unique is its affordability (it’s free!) and excellent design quality. “We have a more intuitive app, and we are using the latest trends of UI design, used by Google and Dropbox and so on,” Softxpert founder Ahmed Abdelhalim told Wamda.

Since its launch in January, Smart Document Scanner has already won the People’s Choice award at ArabNet Beirut, listed in ArabNet’s top ten favorite apps from the Middle East, featured in SAP’s top five apps list and highlighted among the top ten in the Mobile Apps Showdown competition during the International Computer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Have you tried this app? What other apps do you rely on regularly to get things done and stay organized?
