The first thing that pops into our heads whenever we think of Egypt is the Pyramids, Pharaohs, and the Nile River. Mohammed Assaf, through his latest video clip ‘Aywa Haghanni’, gave us a totally dazzling and refreshing view of Cairo and Egypt that does not involve anything about the Pyramids or Pharaohs.

As you watch the video, you will notice Egypt’s most famous dish which is ‘Kushari’ and how all the Egyptian people take their families to the restaurant to eat it. Just as the Gulf is famous for its “Mansaf” and Lebanon is famous for its “Tabbouleh”, Egypt is very well known for its “Kushari”.

Next, you will see a guy on a bicycle who is delivering some bread, a tailor who’s working, and three happy kids running through the streets. Then, you will see how everybody enjoys spending time at the caffe where the waiter serves minted tea and hubble-bubble AKA “Shisha”. People from all ages play dominos and “Tawlet El Zahr”.

Finally, you will catch a glimpse of the famous Nile rides in the delightfully decorated boats and at the Egyptian weddings.

Indeed, Assaf showed us through his video how exciting and pleasurable it is to spend a day in Cairo.

Do you know of any other music video that reflects on a Middle Eastern country or city?
