It was not an archeologist, nor one of the dozen foreign missions that have attempted to find it for the past three decades: the causeway for the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Giza was found unexpectedly by a local resident. According to El Ahram , a resident of El Haraneya village in Giza began digging beneath his house to a depth of about 10 meters when he discovered a tunnel made up of huge stone blocks that led to the largest of the three pyramids in Giza , also known as Cheops. The Khufu pyramid complex consisted of a Valley Temple near the Nile River, which used to be connected to a long causeway that led to the Temple of Khufu, which in turn was connected to the pyramid, explains Ancient Origins.
Until now, only a few remnants of the causeway, such as a covered road, have been found.
