This slow process of healing and adaptation is at the heart of the Foundation for the Social Promotion of Culture’s latest initiative in Jordan with vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians with disabilities. In the Ramtha, Karak and Ma’an governorates, in partnership with OCHA, the FPSC will assess the needs of 787 Syrians and 263 Jordanians with disabilities , and provide over 70% with therapeutic referrals and mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches and braces.
In Zaatari Refugee Camp, a mobile clinic permanently staffed with a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and technicians will be established to likewise identify and supply nearly 500 inhabitants with disabilities and the elderly with movement aids and therapy. The Spanish foundation will also educate families and communities about the best treatments for and the rights of the disabled.
