Egypt #Barakability Art & Photography Music The Arts 816 Smiles by Valentina Primo 4 weeks ago Egyptians are radiating with pride as they read the news: 20 years after their separation, the legendary rock band Pink Floyd comes back with an album whose cover was designed by an 18-year-old Egyptian artist. Entitled “ The Endless River “, the album cover will feature Emad Eldin’s suggestive design of a man rowing a boat through a river of clouds. The young artist, who was born in Saudi Arabia and is now based in Cairo, has been a graphic designer since the age of 13 and has seen his artwork displayed in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin and Milan.
After seeing his work on Behance , “a creative agency working for Pink Floyd contacted me,” Eldin said in an interview with The Independent. “When we saw Ahmed’s image, it had an instant Floydian resonance. It’s enigmatic and open to interpretation, ” said Aubrey Powell, partner of the late graphic designer Storm Thorgerson, who passed away in April last year.
Author of the iconic prism in “The Dark Side of the Moon” and the “burning man” in “Wish You Were Here” Thorgerson had been contributed a great deal to the band’s mystique, posing a great challenge to his successor.
