Visit Qalandiya International Before It’s Too Late

Palestine #Barakability Art & Photography The Arts 19 Smiles by Sadad Talhouni 08/11/2014 Under the banner of “Archives, Lived and Shared”, the second edition of Qalandiya International has begun in the cities of Gaza and Al-Bireh. The event is considered one of the largest exhibitions of Palestinian art and culture, with the participation of 13 cultural institutions and tens of local and foreign artists. Qalandiya International puts the spotlight on the archives that have shaped Palestine’s past and present.

It started on October 22 and will end November 15, with various exhibitions displayed, one of the most notable being “87”, an exhibition by Eltiqa Group and Windows for Contemporary art from Gaza, in which ten artists attempt to document the daily life in Gaza during the first Intifada in 1987. Qalandiya International attempts to preserve the Palestinian experience and heritage from being lost through these archives by displaying it to as large an audience as possible. It will be hosting the event and local seminars in historical cities across Palestine.
