From bread to medicine, the Nour Association is providing for the well-being of Syrians inside and outside of their country , regardless of their backgrounds. The aid group straddles both sides of the Syrian-Turkish border , running a medical center and pharmacy in Istanbul dedicated to serving Syrians along with 14 pharmacies inside Syria that offer medicines free of charge. Nour also supports a number of field hospitals and medical centers inside Syria, while others in Turkey treat and give referrals to those who make it across the border.
But the “life support” it offers encompasses the provision of staples necessary to sustain families’ survival , including food and infant formula. Nour runs three bakeries that distribute bread gratis to the needy. And believing that today’s education will tremendously impact the future Syria, Nour has constructed two schools for refugees , in Istanbul and Antakya, where it runs cultural competitions, recreational activities and seminars year-round.
