Deepening Expression, Spreading Creativity

Bahrain Art & Photography Design, Fashion & Architecture The Arts 1 Smile © Riwaq Photo Archive by Jennifer MacKenzie 03/09/2013 From works-in-progress to finished products, Manama’s Al-Riwaq Art Space is strengthening the region’s aesthetic mettle. On September 11, the first phase of the gallery’s latest offering will commence: a series of “pre-market training” design workshops led by internationally renowned designers and ranging from graphics to fashion. These will culminate in Market 338, a fair to promote the work of regional designers.

For two weeks starting November 28, the creations from each workshop will be displayed, to encourage their young participants’ talents. Market 338 will also showcase the abundant history of Bahrain and its artisan legacy , a history now nearly lost to Bahrain’s transition to modernity. As the country develops, Al-Riwaq continues working to advance aesthetics at the same pace.

At the heart of community engagement since its establishment in 1998, the gallery is committed to developing conceptual art and collaboration through residencies, exhibitions, and support of public art.
