Kevin Spacey Has a Message for Middle Eastern Youth Passionate About Theatre

UAE , Cross-border #Barakability Opportunities The Arts Theater & Dance 18 Smiles by Lena Kassicieh 09/12/2014 The Middle Eastern Theatre Academy (META) and Kevin Spacey Foundation (KSF) have teamed up to create an incredible opportunity for young adults in the Middle East. META was founded in 2011 as a joint initiative with Kevin Spacey and KSF, and their goal is to work directly with youth in the MENA region in the field of stage performance, theatre arts and media education. The Academy is a non-profit institution that focuses specifically on underprivileged communities, who may not otherwise have the chance to pursue their theatre dreams.

META hosts classes, events and workshops all with the goal of motivating, teaching and empowering youth to get involved in theatre arts. The Home Grown Theatre project will give youth in the region a chance to be discovered, and to learn valuable skills needed for a successful career in the field. Facilitated by KSF, META hopes to give participants the chance to learn a variety of important skills, including set design, costume creation, makeup application, writing, producing, acting, performing and producing.

Winners will go to the UAE for an intensive two week training program from January 10 – 27 2015. To apply, visit the META site and read their instructions. A speech can be downloaded in English and Arabic, and candidates will be required to film themselves performing this speech (using any device available to them).

Applications close December 15, so get to it! For more information: Middle Eastern Theatre Academy official website , Kevin Spacey Foundation official website. ||||| 17 click to add a smile ||||| Share your opinion!
