Tomorrow evening, Project Pen will be concluding their month long Ramadan social media competition that encouraged young people to create stories through social media images and text. In collaboration with LG Electronics Levant, the Golden sponsor of the competition, the event will be held at the Coffee Bean in Amman’s Abdoun neighborhood.

Throughout the month, the #InstagramStories received 4,236 likes and 519 comments. The stories and images, which were submitted by people in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Kuwait and Palestine ranged from fictional to biographical, with weekly suggested themes like “love stories” and “city stories”. Project Pen’s founder, John Lillywhite, commented on the competition saying, “to generate so many stories and engage in such a new way was a big challenge. The support we received turned something that we knew was possible into a huge success. An eBook of the best stories will be launched very soon.”

Prizes for the best weekly stories will include books from Widescreen Fun Library, and for the second place English and Arabic stories, an HD Ready TV from LG, and a top-of-the-line LG G3 Smartphone for the grand prize winners.

If you’re in Amman, be sure to attend the event. Project Pen encourages all aspiring writers to share their stories through their website, so get writing!
