This May Be the Best Parody of the Western Idea of Hummus You’ll Ever See

It’s hard to tell which part is more hilarious: his mother’s dance moves in the background, his fake mustache, or the uproarious homage the lyrics pay to homemade Arab hummus. Created by GoRemy, the parody mocks the Western idea of hummus while simultaneously laughing at the Arab world’s daily doses of the famous dip.

“If you suspect that the content is teeny, go to the lab and check the tahini. Never dip a carrot or tortilla, hummus is like Katniss: it needs pita,” says the song. Remy, an Arab-American comedian situated at the meeting point between both the Western and the Arab world, paints a cross-cultural melody that portrays what happens when Thanksgiving and tahini meet.

Followed by 165,000 subscribers on his Youtube channel, the comedian has previously produced other exhilarating parodies such as Teardrops on my Kabob, and an Arab version of Taylor Swift’s hit Call me Maybe.
