Each country and culture celebrate the month differently, and we got a glimpse into a traditional Ramadan experience through the eyes of our Saudi photographer Mohammad A. Alfaraj , who captured the festive, crowded spirit of the Jeddah streets.
As hundreds of Saudis gather together to drink glass after glass of sugary, dark black tea and buy bread, foul, and chickpeas for their Iftar or Sohoor feasts, the feeling of festivity, unity and spirituality is palpable. Photos display the locals as they drink Al Soobeyah syrup, a sweet, thick drink famous during the Holy Month, as they line up to buy newspapers from Amo Omar, who has been a news vendor in Jeddah for over 50 years, and families as they gather under ancient alleyways decorated in strings of lights. #OnlyInRamadan What are some of your Ramadan traditions?
