Here’s Why Saying “My City is Libya” Will Never Be Wrong. At Least Not Now

Libya Business NGOs, Nonprofits & Charities 10 Smiles by Valentina Primo 05/11/2014 “ I know what you’re thinking; Libya is a country not a city ,” says Mahmoud Elhadi Abogrean, a member of Volunteer Libya, the organization behind the #My_city_is_Libya campaign. “Indeed it is [a country], but the mass majority of us have forgotten that fact. Somewhere along the line, we have all been consumed by an infectious disease that manipulated our loyalty and our patriotism to work for an individual small geographical area and belong to a specific group of tribe, or race and hold its glory above all else,” he says For the past three years, Volunteer Libya has striven to enlist the services of people from around the world and match each individual with the opportunities available in Libya.

Their latest campaign, My city is Libya , consists of a three-day event to be held on next November 20-22, where fun games, activities, discussions and prizes suitable for youth and families will be organized. “We, Libya’s youth, have taken it upon ourselves to design this campaign as a reminder to everyone out there that we shall all stand as one, leaving our differences aside, reigniting that light within and marching for a better tomorrow today,” he explains.
