In October 2014, a powerful video entitled “To our countries” stormed the web and went viral, spreading a heart-breaking yet hopeful message to nearly two million viewers across the world. The protagonists, two Syrian sisters residing in Sweden, combined touching poetry with a mesmerizing voice. Faia, the singer, decided now to embark on a music career in a most unexpected way: crowdfunding her debut.

“That first step was so powerful, that it made me walk much faster in my thousand miles journey. At some point I realized I was running and even jumping over a few steps. This single video opened up an entire new world for me: all the feedback, media, interviews, trips, festivals, articles and attention, but most importantly the love, support and trust, from beautiful strangers that showed eagerness to hear more of my music,” she says.

But despite having received numerous offers from production companies and talent shows, Faia decided to start on her own, acknowledging that any other choice would limit her freedom to with freedom to sing for the causes she lives for. With this in mind, the artist has now initiated a crowdfunding campaign to raise $25,000 to face costs of production, distribution, and tours. “The path I’ve chosen is one where I don’t just sing for the sake of singing,” she says.

For more information: Visit Faia’s Facebook page and support her crowdfunding campaign on Zoomaal here.
