From a sea of unemployment, a beacon of opportunity: a virtual space where jobless Syrians abroad can find employers. Launched this February by Syrian Ahmed Edilbi and his international team, Dubarah provides an online platform where job-hunting Syrians post CVs and companies publicize job openings. Edilbi was inspired by friends who left Syria only to struggle for survival abroad.

“This is where you start to sense that it’s a dead end, that there’s no solution. This is when we thought, it needs a ‘Dubarah’, or ‘solution’! And here we are today.” The website gets an average of 7,000 hits daily, and according to Edilbi has led to over 7,000 jobs found , particularly in the UAE and Egypt, plus 700 investment opportunities capitalized on.

Its Facebook page also offers occupational and moral suppor t for over 10,000 members.
