Egypt #Barakability Discovery Lifestyle Wellness Inside Out 258 Smiles by Valentina Primo 3 weeks ago Thanks to a self-propelled underwater wheelchair, English artist Sue Austin dove into the marvels of the Red Sea and challenged social perceptions of what being on a wheelchair feels like. Her art project Creating the spectacle presents a series of underwater acrobatic shows displayed at the London 2012 Paralympic games, defying the preconception of disability as a limitation. Her stunning set of videos and live events have inspired many to try the experience, as several scuba diving centers in Egypt’s Red Sea offer to adapt diving courses for wheelchair users.
In the Sinai peninsula, hotels and diving centers such as Camel Dive in Sharm El Sheik, offer diving courses that include PADI certification. Further north, in the small town Dahab, disabled friendly Dive Urge also offers adapted courses. Along the coast of Hurghada , there are also two Barakuda Diving Centers, located at the Intercontinental Abu Soma Resort and Amwaj Abu Soma Resort & Spa , two luxurious barrier free hotels.
