The compilation of photos offers an intimate look at the living experiences of the Afro-Iranian community, a community that have lived in Iran for decades but are often overlooked. Mahdi’s book, entitled Afro Iran, has more than 100 pages and 60 color photographs, featuring vivid color portraits of these individuals alongside essays in English and Farsi that weave the community’s historical and cultural heritage.

To assist in funding this project, Mahdi has started a Kickstarter campaign. To donate, (and receive incredible fine art prints, posters and postcards from the series), go here. To purchase the final edition of the book, go here!
