Algeria The Arts TV, Film & Online Video 28 Smiles by Valentina Primo 3 days ago A new TV station in Algeria is helming a new wave of independent media that puts the spotlight on what has been so far ignored: the life of ordinary Algerians. Khabar Broadcasting Corporation, or KBC, is a brainchild of El Khabar, a legendary newspaper that introduced independent quality journalism in and throughout the country’s civil conflict. Following the Arab Spring revolts, and as the state began loosening their control over the broadcast media, El Khabar took the leap and inaugurated its own private TV station.
Funded with capital from their newspaper and investments in printing presses, KBC has an ambitious objective: establishing a 24-hour local TV channel that poses a genuine alternative to the powerful regional and international satellite channels that dominate the media spectrum. In its six months of existence, KBC ranks among the top 7 most viewed TV channels, according to a report by International Media Support. For more information : Visit KBC’s website.
